MATH: E8 root system: 240 roots in 8D, Coxeter number 30, Weyl group order 696729600. Projection to 3D uses cut-and-project method from 8D to 3D via 4D intermediate (600-cell/120-cell). Golden ratio φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.618 appears in coordinates of E8 roots: e.g., (±1,±1,0,0,0,0,0,0) permutations and (±½,±½,±½,±½,±½,±½,±½,±½) with even number of minus signs — these encode φ in 4D quaternion representations.
