In Nigeria, the study of job satisfaction has been a recurring issue in Organizational Studies due to its linkages with staff performance and productivity as well as commitment to the organizations, especially universities where inadequate remuneration, heavy workload, infrastructural inadequacies and limited career development are some of the major concerns related to staff morale and effectiveness in universities. This study focused on the study of the influence of Job satisfaction on the performance of workers of the University of Abuja, Nigeria. The study used mixed method research design approach which included quantitative and qualitative methods to get a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. Structured questionnaires were used to gather primary data from academic and non-academic staff while in-depth interviews were used to capture workers' lived experiences and perceptions. Both qualitative data (direct reported speech) and quantitative data (simple percentage) were used in the analysis to identify the themes that emerged and the staff stories. The study indicated that important aspects of job satisfaction like salary, promotion possibilities, working environment, management style and interpersonal relations have significant effect on the efficiency, timeliness, commitment and service delivery of workers. The qualitative evidence also confirmed that the poor satisfaction can lead to low morale, poor productivity, absenteeism and poor service quality. The study has concluded that job satisfaction is one of the important factors that influence the performance of workers in the University of Abuja. It suggests that the management should focus on the welfare of the employees, transparent systems of promotion, participatory management processes and better working conditions, which would improve productivity and effectiveness of the institution.
