According to the overview of the European legal landscape it may seem that the match-fixing phenomenon is treated as a serious infringement in all the countries, however, the legal evaluation of the issue is not uniform. It looks like the international society is trying to tackle it separately. Notwithstanding, match-fixing is recognized as a cross border crime of transnational nature and the common tools and remedies for the fight against match-fixing are extremely needed. And the Council of Europe Convention on Manipulation of Sports Competitions will be essential for this purpose, as well a collective global strategy led by world governments seems necessary and urgent. ...
