Abstract A 13‐year‐old, female, spayed, mixed‐breed dog presented with acute respiratory distress and was diagnosed with a tracheal mass obstructing 80% of the tracheal lumen. The patient underwent radiography, fluoroscopy and tracheoscopy before surgical removal and anastomosis. The histopathological examination revealed a mast cell tumour. The patient initially did well in the post‐operative period, but had an episode of acute tracheal bleeding and respiratory distress 3 weeks post‐surgery and was humanely euthanised.
