Abstract The main frame is the most critical component of the compression-shear testing machine, bearing the entire working load during operation. To ensure that the 60MN compression-shear testing machine meets strength and stiffness requirements under extreme loads, a simplified model of the main frame was established using SolidWorks, static and modal analyses were conducted on the main frame using ANSYS. The simulation results indicate that under the 60MN extreme load, the maximum stress of the main frame is 241.65 MPa, located at the connection between the lateral reaction plate and the upper crossbeam, and the maximum deformation is 1.4375 mm, occurring at the joint between the locking nut and the column. These values satisfy the requirements for static strength and stiffness. In the modal analysis, the minimum natural frequency of the main frame is 7.1699 Hz, which is significantly lower than the actual operating frequency, ensuring no resonance phenomenon occurs. The results confirm that the design meets practical operational demands.
