The model of hardening soil reproduces the nonlinear dependence of deformations on stresses under volumetric and shear deformation, as well as it contains two non-fixed yield surfaces – that is, it reproduces strengthening under shear and volumetric compression. Besides, the model reproduces the processes of dilatancy and contraction which are typical for discrete media. Therefore, our scientific paper considers the mathematical model of nonlinear behavior of dispersed soils which are used for numerical calculations of foundations of structures by the method of finite elements for strengthening as the most suitable for dense clays when solving problems related to reducing the average effective stress with simultaneous resistance of rocks to shear with the typical nonlinear deformation in the plastic area. The method for selecting and calibrating the input and controlled parameters of model of hardening soil in the Plaxis software package, in SoilTest model has been proposed. It was found out that while selecting and calibrating the parameters of the model of hardening soil, it is important to focus on the expected range of lateral pressure values where the further modeling of underground structures will be carried out.
