This research is based on a significant decrease in public participation in the 2024 Sukabumi City Regional Head Election which reached 70.05% from 78.10% in the 2018 Regional Elections. This study aims to examine the authority of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Sukabumi City in increasing public participation in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) based on PKPU Number 9 of 2022 This research will examine the extent to which the Sukabumi City KPU exercises its authority in increasing public participation in the 2024 Regional Elections in accordance with the mandate of PKPU Number 9 of 2022. This study uses a normative juridical method with a qualitative descriptive approach, systematically analyzing KPU regulations related to increasing community participation and their implementation in Sukabumi City. The focus of the analysis includes the implementation of the authority of the Sukabumi City KPU in organizing socialization, voter education, and other innovative strategies. The results of the study show that the Sukabumi City KPU has exercised its authority in accordance with PKPU Number 9 of 2022. In addition, the Sukabumi City KPU is also thinking about other strategies to optimize its reach to increase community participation in Sukabumi City such as socializing using social media, collaborating with influencers, providing special socialization for the elderly and also people with disabilities, collaborating with organizations for people with disabilities, collaborating with government stakeholders, providing political education to the marginalized, and visit the Final Disposal Site (TPA) as an additional activity program.
