The aim of this work is to identify the role of literature in the formation of the poetics of S. S. Aksakov’s composer’s work. The literary sources, figurative content, genre and stylistic features of his vocal works of the 1920-1940s, their connection with Russian music of the 19th – early 20th centuries are considered. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the works of a little-studied Russian composer are introduced into musicological circulation, their analysis is carried out, and the features of this author’s poetics are revealed. As a result, the idea is substantiated that literature had a special influence on the musical work of S. S. Aksakov. This suggests that literary centrism is a distinctive feature of his artistic thinking.
