Abstract

Background – Vyanga is a Kshudra Roga described in Ayurveda characterized by the appearance of n painless, bluish-black patches on the face, primarily caused due to Vata-Pitta vitiation. Emotional factors like Krodha (anger) and Shoka (grief) are considered primary etiological factors. Modern parallels can be drawn with melasma, a form of facial hyperpigmentation. Here a single-arm open-label clinical study was conducted on 20 patients with classical symptoms of Vyanga. Yashtimadhu Ghrita was applied externally on affected areas once daily at night for 30 days. Parameters like pigmentation intensity, lesion size, and skin texture were recorded on day 0, 15, and 30. Topical use of Yashtimadhu Ghrita is effective in the management of Vyanga. Its Raktaprasadana, Varnya, and Twachya properties play a significant role in reducing pigmentation and improving skin health. No adverse reactions were reported.
