The analysis is based on the evolution of China's ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) policies between 2013 to 2022. This study assesses policy developments in early, middle and current stages using data from multiple ESG indicators by environmental (E), governance (G) or social dimensions S. By comparing with the developed countries, which are United States of America (USA), Germany and The United Kingdom (UK), we look at how China's ESG policies fit into what is generally followed in other global economies. This is why the results solidify a growth in environmental policies and governance initiatives with an even maturer but slow beeline progress in social. Major trends indicate that China will next look to enrich social governance in its ESG policy while keeping the pace on environmental sustainability. Based on the observed trends, some recommendations for future policy directions are offered.
