Abstract This article gives a history of the digital humanities project At the Circulating Library: A Database of Victorian Fiction, 1837–1901, from its beginnings in 2007 to the present. In particular, it recounts the mistakes and successes, joys, and frustrations of creating and maintaining the project, as well as some observations about working on digital humanities projects.
