Blockchain technology, initially popularized by cryptocurrencies, has emerged as a promising solution for various cybersecurity challenges. This paper comprehensively analyzes blockchain applications in cybersecurity, extending beyond its use in digital currencies. Through a systematic review of current literature, analysis of real-world implementations, and insights from cybersecurity experts, we identify key areas where blockchain technology is making significant impacts. These include secure data storage and sharing, identity and access management, supply chain security, IoT device management, and threat intelligence sharing. Our findings indicate that while blockchain offers unique benefits such as immutability, transparency, and decentralization, it also faces challenges in scalability, energy consumption, and integration with existing systems. The paper also explores future research directions, including post-quantum blockchain security and AI-blockchain integration for advanced threat detection. This work contributes to the ongoing effort to leverage blockchain technology for enhancing cybersecurity practices across various sectors.
