The article examines the problems of the legal status of agglomerations. The authors determine the main characteristics of agglomerations, identify problems of their functioning, including problems of interaction between municipalities that make up the agglomeration, analyze relevant foreign experience (Spain, Argentina). Based on the results of the study, the authors come to the conclusion that more detailed legal regulation of agglomerations is necessary within the framework of the legislation on local self-government.
