We will present different chemical strategies for the in-solution assembly of single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)-based heterostructures, down to single-particle control and resolution. In particular, we interfaced SWCNTs to inorganic semiconducting nanoparticles and nanocrystals, perovskites, as well as metal nanoparticles and nanowires. We developed various approaches towards this end, from the selective and differential functionalisation of CNTs terminal ends with distinct individual nanomoieties , to the use of nanotubes as templates for the growth of nanomaterials on their sidewall or in their cavity. Solution-processed optoelectronic devices were fabricated employing the aforementioned nanohybrids, displaying various sensitivity to a broad range of illumination wavelengths.
