The onset of the New Space era has led to a recent increase in the utilization of micro-satellites across diverse missions, accompanied by a growing interest in space exploration with regard to In-Situ Resources Utilization. In alignment with these trends, there is dynamic developments of various space propulsion technologies combining green and low electric power features with the conventional approaches. In responce to this trend, this study aims to introduce current status of space propulsion technologies using water propellant, which have improved performance and several advantages. To achieve this, the methods, principles, and features of water-based space propulsion technologies were investigated and analyzed. Furthermore, by examining and integrating various overseas development cases, a comprehensive understanding of the development trend in this field was identified.
