The purpose of the article is to determine the role of the state in the development of tourism in Kazakhstan based on a study of the specifics and trends of the tourism industry. The research used systematic and comparative approaches, grouping, absolute and relative differences methods, and SWOT analysis. The article analyzes the country’s tourism development indicators for 2018-2022. The resort (tourist) zones of Kazakhstan are grouped by the number of incoming and domestic visitors for 2022. The problems of the country’s tourism industry have been identified. The implemented measures of state policy in the field of tourism in Kazakhstan are considered.
