The article examines the peculiarities of the formation of the military-political partnership of the Republic of Korea and the United States since the signing of the fundamental Mutual Defense Treaty (1953) by the states. The Alliance of the Republic of Korea and the United States plays a key role in building a peaceful dialogue on the Korean peninsula, as well as in maintaining peace in the Eastern macroregion as a whole. The author pays special attention to the specifics of the countries’ cooperation in this area at the present stage; gives an assessment of the factors complicating the functioning of the alliance; reveals various formats of the US military presence on the territory of the Republic of Korea.
