The DELNET–DataCite Open Dialogue on Establishing a DELNET–DataCite Consortium for South Asia: Opportunities and Benefits was organized and hosted by DELNET (Developing Library Network) in India, where Mohamad Mostafa spoke on Open Science, UNESCO’s Open Science pillars, with a focus on open science infrastructure and the importance of persistent identifiers (PIDs). He provided an overview of DataCite as a growing global community, shared two use cases from Indian institutions using DataCite services, and highlighted the proposal to establish a regional DataCite consortium in South Asia, led by DELNET, to support members in the region. The session emphasized the opportunities and benefits of regional collaboration, aiming to strengthen open research practices and infrastructure across South Asia. The community dialogue was hosted virtually on 18 November 2025 by DELNET and was moderated by Dr. Sangeeta Kaul, DELNET Director, bringing together participants interested in advancing open science and persistent identifier adoption in the region.
