This paper positions the Africa PID Alliance and the Digital Object Container Identifier (DOCiD) as strategic interventions that complement global PID systems while advancing Africa-aligned Open Science priorities. It argues for a research object identification paradigm that supports aggregation, contextual metadata, ethical governance, and equitable participation in global knowledge infrastructures.
