Green function and quantum mechanical type Т-scattering operator technique is developed to study plasmonic and spin wave propagation in open (free space) and confined (waveguides) dielectric (metallic) and magnetic nanostructures. The technique is based on the original Lippmann-Schwinger integral equation for the tensor Т-scattering operator of a dielectric or magnetic particle with an effective scattering potential containing the scattering part centred on the particle surface, and Watson’s rule for the composition of Т-scattering operators of an ensemble of particles. A simple method for solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equation in quasi-separable form is given and it is shown that the resulting solution satisfies the optical theorem in free space.
