In the Concept of the development of the penal enforcement system of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030, one of the key goals is the need to improve the quality and organization of activities at various levels, which should and can be achieved by having highly professional personnel who are motivated to serve. The existing staff shortage increases the stress burden on young employees, who already at an early stage of professional adaptation face objective difficulties: lack of professional experience, insufficiently developed skills of emotional self-regulation, uncertainty in meeting official standards, etc. The quality of professional adaptation of young employees of the penal correction system is determined by the following components in general: the level of knowledge, skills, and competencies formed during higher education; the level of education of the young employee's personality; the presence of a value-motivational component, which includes a marked interest in performing official activities, a sense of responsibility, a willingness to develop in a professional and personal direction and build a career in the department; the presence of professionally important qualities that ensure the performance of official tasks at the proper level. Psychological support of the professional activities of employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia at the initial stage can be implemented in the following main areas: psychodiagnostic analysis of the personality of employees; carrying out activities aimed at the formation of relevant professionally important qualities at the initial stage of professional adaptation; support of educational work with employees and the formation of professional discipline in the team; development of professional and personal competence and professional culture within the framework of performing official duties.
