ABSTRACT This special issue gathers 14 papers that investigate the topic of digital transformation and the global economy. These papers show how digitalization is reshaping trade, labour markets and global value chains. They reveal not only the efficiency and innovation gains enabled by digital technologies, but also the attendant risks of inequality, disruption and governance challenges. Together, the findings highlight digitalization as both a driver of growth and a source of structural transformation with major policy implications.
