Background: Intracellular bacteria (ICB) is an uncommon finding on routine peripheral blood films but can provide early insight into significant bloodstream infection. Early recognition can support prompt clinical decision-making in suspected sepsis. Molecular diagnostics such as the FilmArray Blood Culture Identification 2 (BCID2) Panel may offer quicker pathogen identification than conventional culture, helping guide earlier treatment.
