Abstract This paper examines the role of Academy of Sanskrit Research, Melukote towards creation of Indian national identity & cultural heritage. This premier institution is contributing towards philosophical pedagogy, heritage conservation and historical research and is playing a vital role in dissemination of traditional knowledge. This institution is blending modern digital conservation methods with traditionally tested intellectual approaches. The role of this institution gains significance as the Indian cultural heritage is always considered as a multi dimensional subject with regards to comprehension and dissemination. This Institution is making the vast Indian knowledge accessible to everybody by supporting the management of Indian socio- cultural legacy, expansion of heritage conservation bases and achieving research collaborations. The academy is focusing on long term sustainability oriented conservation practices as it is assisting different domains of research by linking conservation offices, museums, art galleries, libraries, curation houses and archives offices .
