Gender-based acceptance of agricultural insurance schemes among smallholder women farmers in Tanzania is a critical but understudied area. Qualitative interviews were conducted to gather insights into the perceptions, needs, and experiences of participants in three regions of Tanzania. Gender-specific insurance programmes could be more effective if they better align with the unique needs and challenges faced by women farmers, particularly in terms of risk management strategies and crop types. Insurance providers should prioritise product customization to reflect local agricultural contexts and ensure that benefits are directly linked to the crops and practices most relevant to smallholder women farmers.
