This study aimed to identify effective methods for improving classroom temperature and thermal comfort in a high school in Hokkaido equipped with portable air conditioners. Field measurements and questionnaire survey were conducted, focusing on seat location and types of solar shading. The results revealed that solar shading improved the indoor thermal environment and thermal comfort. Moreover, it was suggested that appropriate operation of the portable air conditioners and increase the number of occupants behavior that can be implemented may contribute to further improvements in thermal comfort.
