Abstract

The history of the medieval Latin commentary tradition on the Heroides remains to be written. To date, only two commentaries have received extensive treatment. This article edits the text of a fragmentary copy of a commentary on Heroides 7 now found in manuscript 803 (807) of the Library of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. The fragment can be linked to an earlier commentary of German origin now in the Royal Library Copenhagen. The Gonville and Caius fragment is also of interest for being written in Anglicana script.
