Key Points
Cytomegalovirus viremia is more likely in children exposed to antibiotics following hematopoietic cell transplantation.
A significant correlation was observed between microbiome diversity and levels of cytomegalovirus viremia in this population.
Observational analysis across children who underwent hematopoietic cell transplantation evaluated antibiotic use and viremia.
Findings support the potential for microbiome modulation strategies to mitigate cytomegalovirus outcomes in pediatric transplantation.
