Providing the welfare of farm animals is a legal requirement in most countries of the world, including Serbia. However, regulations itself are not enough to make changes in perspectives on this issue of people most responsible for that. In this review paper, the attitude of breeders, students and experts in the field of veterinary medicine and animal husbandry regarding the welfare of farm animals have been discussed. Data showed that people's behavior toward animals has been mostly influenced by level of empathy, economic stability and pragmatism. Results on attitudes and situations from other countries may be recognized in Serbia and can help in shaping appropriate educational programs and trainings.
