This contribution starts with a methodological exploration of the Cambridge Grammar of Medieval and Early Modern Greek (CGMEMG), examining its approach to data collection, analysis, description, and presentation, and identifying key challenges encountered in each of these areas. It then considers how emerging digital technologies present promising solutions to these challenges, enabling the development of more exhaustive, dynamic, and accessible grammar resources. The study concludes with reflections on methodological challenges unique to the new digital age, such as the ‘black box’ effect of opaque algorithms and the ‘data trap’ of favoring extensive datasets over deeper, focused research.
