Archaeological evaluation (three trial-trenches) carried out as specified in the project brief and wsi. An archaeological evaluation (three trial-trenches) was carried out on land to the rear of Ruse House, High Street, Long Melford, Suffolk, in advance of a new residential development. Located within the historic village, Ruse & Son butchers traded from the property for 160 years before it closed in 2020. The development site to the rear of the property was used as part of a livestock paddock and garden. The evaluation revealed two pits probably dating to the medieval period.
