Madhumeha is Classified as one of the twenty major type of Prameha described in Ayurvedic classics and is categorized as a Mahagada. Madhumeha is broadly classified into Sahaja and Apathyanimittaja types, and categorized into Vataja, Pittaja and Kaphaja Madhumeha, based on dosha predominance and clinical presentation. A condition in which the urine acquires qualities similar to honey, such as sweetness, astringency and increased quantity. It is characterized by symptoms such as Prabhuta mutrata (polyuria), Avila mutrata (turbid urine), Pipasa (excessive thirst), Kshudha (polyphagia), Dourbalya (weakness), Kara-pada daha (burning sensation of palms and soles) and Shithilangata (laxity of body tissues). Madhumeha correlated with Diabetes mellitus (DM) a chronic, multifactorial metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin functions, or both. A 60 years old male patient presented to the OPD of Kayachikitsa Department, Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Hyderabad on 2nd August 2025 with chief complaint of increased frequency of urination and disturbed sleep with generalised weakness for the past 6 months. The diagnosis of Madhumeha (Diabetes mellitus) was made based on history, examination and investigations. The treatment given included Nishamalaki Vati, Katakakhadiradi Kashayam, BGR-34 and Dia-P, which showed effective results in the management of Madhumeha.
