High doses of opioids or benzodiazepines among older adults can lead to falls, but deprescribing has proven difficult. A recent clinical trial looked at a centralized consultant pharmacist model to assist. The researchers found that a pharmacist consultant service was well accepted by primary care providers, but this service did not reduce opioid or benzodiazepine prescribing or falls.
