Munchausen syndrome by proxy in a 3-year-old childDear Editor, Munchausen syndrome by proxy (MSBP) is an inflicted illness and is defined as a specific behaviour in which a parent or guardian deliberately fabricates or induces illness in a child to satisfy a self-serving psychosocial need.MSBP referred to Baron von Munchausen, a German storyteller from the 18th century, who was known for making up tales about his adventures to attract attention. 1Here we report a case of MSBP in a 3-year-old girl.A 3-year-old girl was brought with a history of multiple fluidfilled lesions associated with burning sensation and mild itching on the lower abdomen, perineum, and thighs since two days.Cutaneous examination revealed flaccid vesicles, bullae, and wet erosions with charring, on an erythematous base, and perilesional peau d'orange appearance of skin.Multiple linear vesiculations and serpiginous greyish pigmentation were present on the abdomen and thighs Figure 1.
