The Rupture Atlas: Bidirectional Classification of Pre- and Post-Rupture Dynamics Across 24 Systemic Events

Three professions—engineering operations, actuarial science, and operations research—have independently measured the same underlying structure of systemic failure and recovery without shared vocabulary. This paper introduces the bidirectional classification framework of the Global Coherence Monitoring Observatory (GCM): the GYOR(n) notation system, a five-class trajectory atlas, and a 24-case reconstruction corpus. Using pre-rupture morphology space (Lᵧ visible drift duration, L₀ latent collapse duration) and post-rupture operator dynamics (H1/H2/H3 horizons), the Upstream Coherence Measurement Stratum (UCMS) reads systemic evolution forward (drift to rupture) and backward (rupture to recovery). Core operators include Δt (seam transition collapse), κ (coordination amplification), δ (governance distortion), VCₜ (emergency velocity-coherence compression), Ψ (regime coupling), and ΦₘG (meaning-geometry loop). Central finding: The same seam operators predict rupture morphology and govern recovery trajectory. Collapse-dominant ruptures reconstitute into new geometry (G*); drift-dominant recover into reformed geometry; shock ruptures yield rich post-event records; and the Semantic Rupture class (canonical: Southwest Airlines 2022) demonstrates meaning-layer intervention before structural rupture. This is not an extension of one discipline into another but the shared measurement substrate all three have approached independently.
