This research addresses international and regional cooperation in combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, shedding light on the efforts made by governmental and non-governmental organizations to tackle this challenge that threatens marine biodiversity and depletes fish stocks at a rate exceeding their ability to regenerate. It analyzes the measures implemented within the framework of governmental organizations such as FAO, in addition to reviewing initiatives launched by non-governmental organizations. The research examines whether these organizations have played an effective role in combating overfishing and highlights the need for concerted international and regional efforts to confront the challenges posed by overfishing to ensure the preservation of fish resources for future generations. We relied on the descriptive approach in order to monitor and document the efforts made by governmental and non-governmental organizations in combating overfishing, in addition to the analytical approach in order to analyze the effectiveness of the efforts of these organizations through the decisions and recommendations they issue. The research plan consisted of two requirements, the first requirement addressed the efforts of governmental organizations, while the second requirement addressed the efforts of non-governmental organizations.
