Podosphaera pannosa, a powdery mildew fungus, is a pathogen commonly occurring on Rosa species and is responsible for considerable ecological and economic losses. In this study, the sexual stage (cleistothecia/ascospores) of P. pannosa was detected on Rosa canina fruits in Adıyaman Province, Turkey, and species identification was molecularly confirmed using the ITS region. The findings represent the first record of the sexual stage of this pathogen in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. These results highlight the importance of understanding the role of natural Rosa populations in the epidemiology of P. pannosa across Turkey and provide a basis for developing sustainable disease management strategies.
