Abstract. The Mantodea figures published in the Description de l’Égypte under Jules-César Savigny are reviewed, emphasizing their artistic execution and subsequent taxonomic interpretation. Each engraving depicting mantises is analyzed for their assigned correspondence to known species by historical authors.
