Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Actuator (DBD-PA) is a fluid control device consisting of only two electrodes separated by a dielectric. A configuration in which multiple DBD-PA are arranged in a closely spaced linear array is referred to as Array-type PA, which demonstrates high flow control performance. However, this configuration causes complex variations in the strength of the electric field and body force. In this study, we focused on a Facing-PA consisting of a single pair of DBD-PA extracted from the Array-type PA and examined how DBD-PA integration affects the electric field and ionic wind. We measured electric potential distributions using the Pockels Measurement and acquired velocity fields using Particle-Image-Velocimetry (PIV). We observed an enhancement of the negative electric field, which is believed to play a key role in ionic wind generation, during the negative slope of the applied voltage. In the same phase, we also found increases in the ionic wind velocity, along with expansion and strengthening of the acceleration region. These findings suggest a strong correlation between electric field strength and ionic wind behavior.
