This study aims to develop a new seismic design methodology incorporating elastic-plastic response analysis of piping systems, including piping support structures. To evaluate the inelastic behavior of pipe support structures, elastic-plastic finite element analysis models were constructed. Cantilever and frame type piping support structures were analyzed using ANSYS software, and the effect of the material model on the analysis results was evaluated. As a result, it was confirmed that the yield stress considerably influences the restoring force characteristics in both the cantilever and frame type supports. In addition, a significant effect on the yield displacement was observed only in the frame type support, which has multiple dominant plastic deformation locations.
