This review underscores the importance of understanding and navigating both women's and perinatal care providers' sociocultural contexts within perinatal care. Perinatal care systems need to actively incorporate interpreters as integral members of the care team and provide training and support tailored to the complexities of working with refugee background populations. Additionally, future research should include interpreters' voices on their perspectives and experiences in perinatal care to comprehensively understand and identify ways to improve interpreter-mediated perinatal care.
