The country of Iraq historically known as “Mesopotamia” has always been known for its rich history and cultural heritage, which spans thousands of years. This caused the country to endure numerous crises, particularly in the northern city of Mosul known as the center of the ancient governate of “Nineveh” and considered to be the second largest city of Iraq. This paper explores the cultural heritage of Mosul and the challenges it has faced due to the neglect and lack of interest from scholars and historians, especially in the recently revealed ancient site located underneath the destroyed Mosque of Al-Nabi Yunus. The discovery of the site unveiled historical and cultural treasures that scholars and archeologists failed to properly document. The paper analyzes past interventions and scholarly works while collecting data from these scholarships and applying a comparative analysis methodology to highlight the gaps in the academic field of history and cultural heritage. Aiming to revive the damaged city and its community through the power of literary works. Keywords: Cultural heritage, Heritage revival, Heritage preservation, Multi-cultural, Multi-ethnic, Mosul, Nineveh, Assyria.
