Currently, ensuring the economic security of the country is one of the priorities of state policy. This circumstance is due to the fact that economic crimes cause significant damage to both individual citizens, businesses, and the state as a whole. Modern economic crime is characterized by its cross-border nature, the use of multi-level financial schemes, affiliated and nominal structures, and abuse in the field of procurement and budget allocation. The author attempts to go beyond the traditional legal positivism and comprehend the phenomenon of economic crime from the standpoint of philosophy through the prism of its two components — economics and crime. Turning to the ideas of thinkers from different eras allows for a deeper understanding of the essence of the phenomena under study, understanding the causes and conditions of their occurrence, and, in general, forming a unified picture of the nature of economic crime. The methodological basis of the research consists of general scientific methods of cognition, including: induction, deduction, analysis, synthesis, analogy. The paper reflects the idea that the content of economic knowledge has changed depending on the historical period and the transformations taking place in it. Special attention is paid to the philosophical understanding of the problem of crime from the perspective of various historical and philosophical concepts. Based on the analysis, the conclusion is formulated that the existence of economic relations inevitably generates crime, which is a social evil. In conclusion, it is stated that it is the philosophical approach that makes it possible to find answers to many questions and, in the future, to identify ways to combat such a phenomenon as economic crime. The theoretical and practical significance of the research lies in the fact that the formulated conclusions can serve as a theoretical basis for further scientific discussion.
