Immersive technology is increasingly relevant in literature due to its ability to improve user experience and performance in various everyday tasks. In the educational field, it is used in immersive learning to enhance student interaction and performance. As a result, the specific application of this technology in institutions of higher education is growing, which requires further research to understand its implications for collaborative learning and social interaction. This work utilises bibliometric analysis to identify research trends in immersive technologies applied to IHEs, including the development of educational technology and future approaches like M-learning, as well as emerging topics like anxiety and STEM education. It highlights the need for continued research in the context of higher education.
