The article discusses state trade in the city of Sevastopol in the post-war period. The authors analyze the features of state trade in conditions of post -war recovery, its role in providing the population with goods of first necessity and influence on the city’s economy. The article also discusses the problems that state trade faced during this period, such as the lack of goods and workers, problems with logistics and the need to restore the destroyed infrastructure. When writing work, the authors used both Soviet and modern historiography on the topic of research, as well as a wide array of sources: unpublished archival documents, periodical data. The authors come to the statement that the state trading network in Sevastopol from 1944 to 1954 was successfully restored. This conclusion was made on the basis that the number of outlets and organizations exceeded the pre -war indicators, the plan for the turnover was practically carried out, in the documents of the end of the recovery period of Sevastopol, data on the problems that existed at the beginning, or their concentration decreased. The problem of the existence of a deficiency of certain goods in the city is indicated, but the authors associate this with the functioning of the planned supply system, and not with the problems of the restoration of the retail network. A phenomenon such as speculation that existed in Sevastopol throughout the entire period of recovery was noted. The article is of interest to historians, economists and everyone who is interested in the history of trade in the USSR.
