This article, drawing on archival and legislative materials, examines the organization of pension provision for Russian judges from the adoption of the Statute on Pensions and Lump-sum Benefits in 1827 to the judicial reform of 1864. Attention is paid to the development of legislation regulating judicial pension provision, which aimed to detail the conditions for receiving pensions. The financial situation in Russia in the first half of the 19th century, which was one of the reasons for the low level of civil servants' pensions, is described. It is noted that a decent financial situation for a judge serves as a positive incentive for their law-abiding behavior and diligence in their careers. Pension provision guarantees a dignified life for judges after retirement. The purpose of this study is to examine the history of pension provision for judges in the Russian Empire from the 1830s to the early 1860s. The work uses both general and specific methods of scientific knowledge: structural analysis, generalization, descriptive, chronological, historical-comparative, which made it possible to reconstruct the history of the organization of pension provision in Russia during the period under review.
