Kürtçe Akrabalık Terminolojisi: M.E. Bozarslan Sözlüğü Örneği

Kinship terms emerge as a reflection of social structures and cultural symbols. Beyond their biological meaning, these terms provide insight into the social order and cultural environment in which they are found through the cultural codes they embody. In our study, we will examine kinship terms from the Kurmanci dialect of Kurdish using a lingua-cultural approach. We will analyse terms that are highly representative from a cultural perspective and lack a specific equivalent in English, categorising them according to kinship formed through blood ties, cousins, and marriage. The dataset for this study consists of the four-volume monolingual Kurdish dictionary compiled by Mehmet Emin Bozarslan. Drawing on the kinship definitions in Bozarslan’s work *Ferhenga Kurdi*, which has made significant contributions to modern Kurdish lexicography, we will present a perspective on Kurdish socio-cultural structure.
