Growth monitoring and promotion (GMP) service is one of the strategies to promote child health and reduce child mortality. However, there is limited data on predictors of GMP service utilization in Savelugu Municipality. This study aimed to assess the utilization of GMP services and its determinants among mothers with children aged 0–23 months in Savelugu Municipality of Ghana. The study employed an analytical cross‐sectional study design involving 329 mother–child pairs randomly selected from three health facilities in the Savelugu Municipality. A structured questionnaire was used to gather information on socio‐demographic characteristics and growth monitoring factors. Chi‐square/Fisher’s test and logistic regression analysis were performed to determine the associated factors of GMP. The mean age of the mothers was 26.7 ± 6.0 years. Only 35.6% of the participants fully utilized the GMP services. Also, 31.0% of them had a good knowledge level of GMP services. Age of child (0–5 months) Adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 5.33, 95% Confidence interval (CI): 2.08–13.69, p = 0.001, counseling on GMP AOR = 1.92, 95% CI: 1.09–3.38, p = 0.025, and home delivery AOR = 0.48, 95% CI (0.23–1.00), p = 0.048 were the factors associated with the utilization of GMP services among the participants. In conclusion, the study revealed low GMP service utilization. Child age, counseling on GMP, and place of delivery were the factors identified to influence GMP utilization among the participants. Efforts to improve counseling and support for mothers, especially those delivering at home, are essential to enhance GMP service utilization and promote child health.
