Lane detection has become a crucial technology for autonomous vehicles in recent years. Lane detection technology can swiftly identify and track lane boundaries on the road, and provide vehicles with precise navigation path. However, the lane detection is largely affected by complex environment factors, which makes it difficult to achieve exact identification. For example, the varying light conditions, occlusions, and worn markings pose significant challenges to traditional image processing algorithms. In this paper, we discuss the main challenges, state-of-the-art studies and future direction of lane detection algorithm in autonomous vehicles.
