The article considers the main approaches to assessing the economic potential of a region, identifies the main carriers of economic potential within the region and the subjects of assessing the potential of the territory or its components. The interaction of the subject and the object of the assessment of the economic potential of the region is graphically presented, which schematically shows the process of conducting such an assessment. The assessment is activated due to incoming information, which in the assessment process is transformed into the results of an assessment of the economic potential of the region, which provides an outgoing flow of information that solves the problem of incoming flow. A review of the research results on the assessment of the economic potential of the enterprise was conducted. The approaches of the interaction of "object" and "subject" in the theory of assessing the economic potential of the territory and its components are considered.
